Agriculture

As a densely packed metropolitan area, Mumbai has practically no traditional agriculture or large-scale farming within its city limits. Land is almost exclusively utilized for residential, commercial, and industrial purposes.

However, the indigenous Koli community maintains a robust and historic fishing industry along the coastlines and creeks, providing fresh seafood to local markets. The city's massive food demand is met through an extensive logistics network importing grains, vegetables, and livestock from the rest of Maharashtra and neighboring states like Gujarat and Karnataka.
