The topography of Jaffna is exceptionally flat and low-lying. * **Highest Point:** The elevation rarely exceeds 10 to 15 meters above sea level, with slight rises in the Tellippalai and Keerimalai areas. * **Lowest Point:** Sea level along the extensive coastline. * **Terrain:** The region consists of coastal plains, sandy beaches, and shallow lagoons. There are no mountains, canyons, or deep valleys. * **Islands:** The topography extends off the western coast into a cluster of small, arid islands (such as Kayts, Karainagar, and Delft Island), which are accessible via causeways or ferries.
