Agriculture is the lifeblood of Pala. The undisputed king of crops here is Natural Rubber (*Hevea brasiliensis*). Vast tracts of land, even small household plots, are dedicated to rubber tapping.
In addition to rubber, the fertile midland soil supports a rich variety of tropical cash crops. Farmers cultivate black pepper, coconut, areca nut, nutmeg, cocoa, and ginger. Tapioca (cassava) and plantains are commonly grown for local consumption. While there is some backyard poultry and dairy farming, they are largely secondary to the highly lucrative plantation and spice crops.
