Pokhara experiences a humid subtropical climate (Köppen classification: Cwa) heavily influenced by its elevation and proximity to the Himalayas. The city receives the highest amount of rainfall in Nepal, as the towering Annapurna range traps monsoon clouds rolling in from the Bay of Bengal. Nearby Lumle is often recorded as the wettest place in the country.
Summer (June to August) is dominated by the monsoon, bringing heavy, persistent rains, high humidity, and average high temperatures around 30°C (86°F). Winter (December to February) is mild, clear, and generally dry, with daytime highs around 19°C (66°F) and nighttime lows rarely dropping below 5°C (41°F). Snowfall in the city itself is virtually non-existent, though the surrounding hills and mountains are heavily snow-capped.
The best times to visit are during the spring (March to May) when rhododendrons bloom in the hills, and autumn (September to November), which offers the clearest skies and optimal visibility of the mountain peaks.
