Transportation in Pokhara is facilitated by a mix of air and road networks. The city celebrated the opening of the Pokhara Regional International Airport in January 2023, replacing the older domestic airport and designed to handle direct flights from neighboring countries, alongside frequent daily flights to Kathmandu and mountain airstrips like Jomsom.
By road, Pokhara is connected to Kathmandu via the Prithvi Highway (approx. 200 km, though historically prone to traffic and landslides) and to the Indian border via the Siddhartha Highway.
Within the city, public transit consists of a network of local buses and microbuses that navigate major routes. Taxis are ubiquitous, though they generally operate on negotiated fares rather than meters. In recent years, ride-sharing apps (such as Pathao and InDrive) have become incredibly popular and have transformed local mobility. The city is also relatively friendly to bicycles and scooters, which are widely available for rent by tourists.
