Basic infrastructure in Kerala is highly developed. Electricity is primarily managed by the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB), relying heavily on hydroelectric power generated from the state's numerous dams, supplemented by solar and thermal sources. The Kerala Water Authority (KWA) manages piped water supply and wastewater systems.
Telecommunications and internet connectivity are exceptionally strong. Kerala is the first state in India to declare internet access as a basic human right, launching the Kerala Fiber Optic Network (KFON) project to provide high-speed broadband to every household and government office. Cellular coverage is virtually ubiquitous, extending even into remote hilly terrains.
