Transportation

Dehradun is well-connected by air, rail, and road. The Jolly Grant Airport (DED), located about 25 km from the city center, is the busiest airport in Uttarakhand, offering daily flights to major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore.

The Dehradun Railway Station is a major northern terminus, connecting the city to the rest of the country via prominent trains like the Shatabdi Express and Vande Bharat Express. By road, Dehradun is linked to the national highway network (NH7, NH307). Public transit within the city consists of a robust network of privately operated auto-rickshaws, shared tempos (locally known as 'Vikrams'), and city buses operating from the Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT). The city is also upgrading its infrastructure under the Smart City Mission to include better pedestrian pathways and EV charging stations.
