The topography of Udaipur is characterized by gently undulating terrain, interspersed with small hillocks (tillas) and fertile river valleys (lungas). Sitting at a modest average elevation of 22 metres (72 feet) above sea level, the city centre is relatively flat, making it conducive to settlement and agriculture.
The Gomati River acts as the primary drainage channel, carving its way through the landscape and creating a fertile flood plain. The surrounding areas slowly rise into the higher, forested hill ranges that characterize much of Tripura's interior.
