Agriculture

The agricultural sector thrives on the fertile alluvial soils of the Gomati river basin. Rice (paddy) is the staple crop, often cultivated in multiple seasonal cycles.

Beyond subsistence farming, the region is highly invested in rubber plantations, taking advantage of the favorable climate. Bamboo, tea, jackfruit, and pineapples are also widely grown. Aquaculture is highly prominent in Udaipur; the city's numerous historical "dighis" (lakes) and surrounding village ponds are heavily utilized for rearing freshwater fish, a staple of the local diet.
