Agartala's infrastructure has seen rapid upgrades under the Government of India's Smart City Mission. Electricity is reliably supplied by the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL), which benefits from the state's surplus power generated by natural gas-based plants.
Water supply and sewage management are handled by the AMC, with ongoing projects to expand piped drinking water and underground drainage systems to mitigate monsoon flooding. Internet connectivity has improved drastically in recent years; Agartala became the third city in India (after Mumbai and Chennai) to get an international internet gateway, sourcing high-speed bandwidth directly from Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh. Cellular coverage is comprehensive, provided by major national telecom operators like Jio, Airtel, and BSNL.
