Civic administration in the city is managed by the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC). The GWMC is headed by a Mayor, who is elected by the corporators representing the city's various municipal wards. The Municipal Commissioner, an IAS officer appointed by the state government, serves as the executive head responsible for day-to-day administration, urban planning, and infrastructure development.
Law and order are maintained by the Warangal Police Commissionerate, led by a Commissioner of Police. Politically, the tri-city area is well-represented in the Telangana Legislative Assembly, encompassing constituencies such as Warangal West, Warangal East, and Wardhannapet. At the national level, the city falls under the Warangal Lok Sabha constituency, ensuring its voice is heard in the Indian Parliament. As an administrative headquarters, the city also hosts the district collectorate, courts, and various regional state government departments.
