The topography of Namchi is entirely mountainous, characterized by V-shaped valleys, deep ravines, and terraced slopes. At an elevation of approximately 1,315 meters (4,314 feet), the city is essentially draped across a prominent hill ridge.
The highest points in the immediate vicinity are the peaks of Samdruptse and Tendong Hill, both of which serve as major geographical and cultural landmarks. The terrain necessitates terraced construction and winding switchback roads. Lower elevations descend sharply toward the river valleys of the Rangeet and Teesta rivers, creating a dramatic and highly varied local landscape.
