While agriculture is not practiced within the municipal limits of Namchi due to urbanization, the city serves as the primary commercial hub for the rich agricultural output of the Namchi District.
Sikkim is proudly recognized as the world's first 100% organic state, and all farming in the region adheres to organic practices. The area surrounding Namchi is renowned for producing large cardamom, ginger, mandarin oranges, and a variety of seasonal vegetables. Located roughly 18 kilometers from Namchi is the Temi Tea Garden, which produces premium organic black and green teas that are heavily exported and highly prized on the international market.
