Yanam experiences a tropical savanna to tropical monsoon climate (Köppen classification Aw/Am), characterized by high humidity and generally hot temperatures year-round.
Summers (March to June) are particularly hot and sticky, with average highs frequently reaching 38°C (100°F) or more. The monsoon season begins in July and lasts through October, bringing heavy rainfall from the southwest and northeast monsoons. Because of its location on the eastern coast, Yanam is highly susceptible to cyclonic storms originating in the Bay of Bengal, particularly between October and December. The best time to visit is during the brief, pleasant winter months from December to February, when temperatures range between 20°C and 28°C.
