Yanam's topography is remarkably flat, characteristic of a coastal delta. The entire district sits at or just barely above sea level (0 to 2 meters).
There are no mountains, hills, or deep valleys in the area. Instead, the terrain is composed almost entirely of floodplains and coastal mudflats, shaped by the historical deposition of silt from the Godavari River. The low-lying nature of the land makes it highly prone to inundation during heavy monsoons and high tidal surges.
