The housing market in Yanam is characterized by a mix of historical and modern architecture. In the core town area, vestiges of French colonial design can still be seen in older villas with expansive courtyards and tall archways, though many are giving way to modern development.
Due to the restricted geographical area of just 30 sq km and a growing population, land prices are relatively high compared to the immediately adjacent villages in Andhra Pradesh. Housing primarily consists of independent single-family concrete homes and low-rise apartment buildings. The government has also initiated various schemes to provide affordable housing blocks for economically weaker sections along the town's periphery.
