Agriculture in Yanam benefits immensely from the fertile alluvial soils of the Godavari delta. Paddy (rice) is the dominant crop, often yielding multiple harvests per year thanks to abundant irrigation.
Coconut groves are widespread along the riverbanks, providing copra and coir. In addition to crops, aquaculture is incredibly prominent; many traditional paddy fields have been converted into freshwater and brackish water ponds for prawn and fish cultivation, which serves as a major export commodity for the local economy.
