Geography

Villianur is located on the eastern seaboard of the Indian subcontinent, situated slightly inland from the Bay of Bengal. It lies approximately 10 kilometers west of the city of Puducherry. The town is situated on the coastal plain of the Coromandel Coast.

A defining geographical feature of the region is the Sankaraparani River (also known as the Gingee River), which flows near the commune. The river basin provides fertile soil, which has historically supported the region's agricultural activities. The local geography is largely flat, with a landscape dominated by agricultural fields, coconut groves, and expanding urban settlements.
