Transportation

Despite its small size, Mahe is highly connected due to its location on a major coastal artery.

* **Road:** National Highway 66 (formerly NH 17) passes directly through the heart of Mahe, connecting it seamlessly to the major cities of Kannur to the north and Kozhikode to the south. * **Public Transit:** Private buses running between Kannur and Kozhikode make frequent stops in Mahe. Local transit is dominated by auto-rickshaws. * **Rail:** The Mahe Railway Station (MAHE) is part of the Southern Railway network. Almost all passenger and several express trains running on the Mangalore-Shoranur route halt here. * **Air:** The nearest airport is Kannur International Airport (KIAL), located about 35 kilometers away, offering domestic and international flights. * **Walking & Cycling:** The town is compact enough to be highly walkable, especially the scenic riverside pathway, though heavy highway traffic can make main road navigation challenging.
