Agriculture in Auroville is centered on organic farming, permaculture, and ecological stewardship. The community aims for food security through a network of farms in its Green Belt, such as Solitude Farm, Auro Orchard, and Buddha Garden.
Farmers cultivate a variety of crops adapted to the local climate, including millets, rice, tropical fruits, and vegetables. There are also dairy farms utilizing ethical livestock management. Auroville is internationally recognized for its seed-saving initiatives, promoting indigenous, drought-resistant crops, and offering extensive educational programs in regenerative agriculture.
