Topography

Tuensang's topography is almost entirely hilly, with the town itself situated at an elevation of approximately 1,371 meters (4,498 feet) above sea level. The terrain features steep slopes, narrow V-shaped valleys, and prominent ridgelines. There are virtually no flat plains in the immediate vicinity of the town; instead, the urban footprint has adapted to the contours of the hills, resulting in winding roads and tiered neighborhoods. Mount Saramati, the highest peak in Nagaland, is located in the broader eastern Nagaland region (Kiphire district, formerly part of Tuensang), highlighting the severe and majestic topography of the surrounding area.
