Government

Tuensang is administered by the Tuensang Town Council, which oversees local municipal functions such as sanitation, local infrastructure, and market regulation. At the district level, the administration is headed by a Deputy Commissioner (DC) appointed by the Government of Nagaland, who is responsible for law and order, revenue, and overall district development.

Politically, the city and its immediate surroundings are divided into legislative constituencies that elect representatives to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (e.g., Tuensang Sadar-I and Tuensang Sadar-II). Traditional governance also plays a vital role, with tribal councils (such as the Chang Khulei Setshang) exercising significant customary authority and resolving local disputes in accordance with Naga customary law.
