Phek is the administrative headquarters of the Phek District. The district administration is headed by a Deputy Commissioner (DC), an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer who maintains law and order, oversees developmental works, and handles revenue collection.
Civic administration of the town is managed by the Phek Town Council, which is divided into various wards. The council is responsible for local sanitation, water supply distribution, and town roads.
Politically, Phek is a constituency in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. Traditional governance also plays a crucial role; customary laws and village councils maintain significant authority in resolving local disputes, land issues, and community matters, working in tandem with the modern Indian legal framework.
