Weather & climate

Mon experiences a subtropical monsoon climate, classified generally under the Köppen climate classification as Cwa (monsoon-influenced humid subtropical).

Summers (March to May) are relatively pleasant with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C. The monsoon season (June to September) brings heavy, sustained rainfall, which can trigger landslides and disrupt travel. Winters (November to February) are cool and dry, with temperatures occasionally dropping to around 10°C, though it rarely reaches freezing in the town itself.

The best time to visit Mon is between October and April, avoiding the torrential monsoon rains. April is particularly popular due to the vibrant Aoling Festival.
