The demographic leans heavily towards a Christian majority, primarily of the Baptist denomination, reflecting the successful missionary work of the 20th century. Literacy rates in Mon town are significantly higher than in the rural hinterlands of the district, hovering around 80%. English and Nagamese (a creole used as a lingua franca in Nagaland) are widely spoken alongside the native Konyak language. A small percentage of the town's population comprises government workers, merchants, and paramilitary personnel from other parts of India.
