Transportation

Mokokchung is primarily reliant on road networks. The city is traversed by National Highway 2 (formerly NH 61), which connects it south to Kohima (the state capital) and north to Amguri in Assam.

Public transportation within the city is facilitated by local taxis and auto-rickshaws, which navigate the steep and winding roads. The Nagaland State Transport (NST) and private bus operators provide daily services to Dimapur, Kohima, and neighboring districts. There is no railway station or airport within Mokokchung. The nearest railway station is Mariani in Assam (approx. 85 km away), and the nearest operational airports are in Jorhat, Assam (approx. 105 km) and Dimapur, Nagaland (approx. 212 km).
