Mokokchung is predominantly Christian, with the Baptist denomination being the most prominent. The **Mokokchung Town Baptist Church (MTBA)** is located in the heart of the city and is one of the largest church congregations in the state. Just outside the town lies **Impur**, the historic mission center established by American Baptist missionaries in 1894, which remains the headquarters of the Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM).
