Government

Longleng is the administrative headquarters of the Longleng district. The district administration is headed by the Deputy Commissioner (DC), an officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) or State Civil Service, who oversees law and order, land revenue, and the implementation of state and central government schemes.

Urban governance in the town is managed by the Longleng Town Council, which is divided into multiple wards, each represented by elected or appointed members. The town council handles local civic duties such as waste management, sanitation, and urban road maintenance.

Politically, Longleng falls under the Longleng Assembly Constituency, electing a representative to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. Traditional governance also plays a vital role; village councils and traditional Phom tribal bodies (such as the Phom Peoples' Council) hold significant influence over community decisions, customary laws, and dispute resolution.
