Topography

The topography of Lawngtlai is heavily undulating. The town itself is built along a series of steep ridges and hill slopes, a common settlement pattern in Mizoram designed to maximize usable land and natural drainage.

Elevations within the district vary drastically, ranging from low-lying river valleys near the Kaladan River to peaks that reach well over 1,000 meters. The steep slopes render the area susceptible to landslides during the monsoon, while the lower valleys provide small patches of flatter land suitable for localized agriculture.
