Housing

Housing in Hnahthial is a blend of traditional and modern hill architecture. Older and more traditional homes are often "Assam-type" structures, built using timber, bamboo, and galvanized iron roofs to withstand heavy monsoon rains and minor seismic activity.

In recent years, reinforced cement concrete (RCC) buildings have become the standard for new constructions, particularly for multi-story homes built into the hillsides. The housing market is primarily characterized by owner-occupied single-family homes and smaller multi-family dwellings. Rental demand has increased recently due to the influx of government employees and teachers.
