Champhai enjoys a mild and pleasant climate year-round, classified generally as a subtropical highland climate (Köppen: Cwb). Due to its high elevation, the town largely escapes the sweltering heat of the Indian plains.
Summers (March to May) are comfortable, with maximum temperatures rarely exceeding 25°C to 28°C. Winters (November to February) can be quite chilly, with temperatures occasionally dropping to near freezing at night, though snow is virtually unheard of. The region experiences heavy rainfall during the southwest monsoon season, which lasts from May to late September. The best time to visit is during the post-monsoon and winter months (October to March), when the skies are clear and the weather is crisp.
