Tura's topography is notably undulating, built upon rolling hills and sloping valleys that eventually flatten out toward the plains of Assam to the west and south. The city itself sits at an average elevation of about 349 meters (1,145 feet), though the terrain varies dramatically from neighborhood to neighborhood, with many homes and roads clinging to steep hillsides.
The most dominant topographic feature is Tura Peak, which towers over the eastern edge of the city at an elevation of 872 meters (2,860 feet). The hike to the summit is a popular local activity, offering panoramic views of the sprawling lower Garo Hills and, on clear days, the meandering Brahmaputra River in the neighboring state of Assam. Valleys and deep ravines crisscross the city, dictating its winding road networks and neighborhood layouts.
