Weather & climate

Nongpoh experiences a subtropical climate, which is notably warmer and more humid than the higher-altitude towns of Meghalaya.

Summers (April to June) are warm and humid, with average high temperatures ranging from 25°C to 32°C (77°F to 89°F). The monsoon season, driven by the southwest monsoon winds, lasts from June to September and brings torrential, heavy rainfall. Humidity during this period remains extremely high, often near 90%. Winters (December to February) are mild and pleasant, with temperatures rarely dropping below 10°C (50°F), making it a comfortable escape from the cold of the upper hills.

The best time to visit Nongpoh is from October to April, when the weather is clear, dry, and cool. Under the Köppen climate classification, it borders a humid subtropical (Cwa) and tropical monsoon (Am) climate.
