Ukhrul experiences a subtropical highland climate (Köppen climate classification: Cwb), characterized by pleasant, temperate summers and notably cold winters.
During the summer months (April to June), average temperatures range from 15°C to 25°C, making it a cool and refreshing retreat from the hotter plains of India. Winters (November to February) are quite cold, with temperatures frequently dropping to 3°C or lower, and occasional frost covering the higher peaks.
The region receives heavy rainfall during the southwest monsoon, which typically spans from May to late September. These rains turn the hills incredibly green but can also trigger landslides. The best time to visit is during the post-monsoon and spring seasons, specifically from October to April, and especially in May when the Shirui Lily is in full bloom.
