Ukhrul's topography is intensely mountainous. The town is built upon a central ridge system, meaning that navigating the town often involves steep ascents and descents.
To the east of the town lies the imposing Shirui Kashong peak, rising to approximately 2,835 meters (9,301 feet). Even higher is the Khayang Peak at 3,114 meters (10,216 feet), which stands as the highest point in the broader district. The topography is also punctured by fascinating geological formations, such as the Khangkhui Mangsor (Khangkhui Cave), a natural limestone cave system featuring massive stalactites and stalagmites that served as a shelter for locals during WWII.
