Infrastructure

Infrastructure in Ukhrul has seen steady improvement but still faces challenges typical of remote hill stations.

Electricity is supplied by the state grid (MSPDCL), though the town occasionally experiences power outages, especially during heavy monsoons. Water supply is a critical issue; while the town relies on municipal piped water sourced from mountain springs (like the Shirui watershed), residents often face water scarcity during the dry winter months, leading to reliance on private water tankers and rainwater harvesting.

Telecommunications are relatively stable, with major Indian cellular networks (Jio, Airtel, BSNL) providing 4G mobile internet connectivity. Broadband services are available but largely restricted to government offices and central businesses.
