Government

Ukhrul town is administered locally by the Ukhrul Autonomous District Council (ADC), which is designed to protect the customary laws, land rights, and traditions of the tribal communities.

The general administration is overseen by a Deputy Commissioner (DC), who is an officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), appointed by the Government of Manipur. The DC is responsible for law and order, land revenue, and the implementation of state and central welfare schemes.

Politically, Ukhrul district falls under the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha constituency for national representation. At the state level, it elects representatives (Members of Legislative Assembly - MLAs) to the Manipur State Legislative Assembly from constituencies such as Ukhrul, Chingai, and Phungyar.
