### Environment
Ukhrul sits at an elevation of approximately 1,662 meters (5,453 feet), offering a temperate climate with lush, hilly terrain.
* **Flora and Fauna:** The crown jewel of the region's environment is the **Shirui Lily (Lilium mackliniae)**, the state flower of Manipur, which grows only on the upper slopes of the Shirui Kashong peak. * **Protected Areas:** Shirui National Park was established to protect the habitat of the Shirui Lily and the Blyth's Tragopan (the state bird). * **Environmental Challenges:** Deforestation due to extensive *jhum* (slash-and-burn) cultivation and timber extraction is a primary concern. * **Sustainability:** Community-led conservation efforts are growing, particularly around the Shirui peak and Khangkhui cave areas, aiming to balance eco-tourism with ecological preservation.
