Pune is situated at the confluence of the **Mula** and **Mutha** rivers, which intersect in the heart of the city before flowing towards the Bhima River. While the urban river stretches face ecological challenges, ongoing restoration projects aim to revitalize their banks. The city relies heavily on a network of nearby dams and reservoirs for its water supply, most notably the **Khadakwasla**, **Panshet**, and **Mulshi** dams. These large water bodies, alongside the urban **Pashan Lake** (a sanctuary for migratory birds), serve as highly popular scenic retreats and picnic destinations.
