Restaurants & food

Dining in Minicoy is a localized experience, heavily influenced by its Maldivian cultural ties rather than the mainland Indian palate.

* **Local Cuisine**: Unlike the rest of Lakshadweep, which has strong Kerala influences, Minicoy's food resembles Maldivian cuisine. Tuna and coconut are absolute staples. * **Signature Dishes**: *Mas Huni* (shredded smoked tuna mixed with grated coconut, onion, and chili), *Garudhiya* (a fragrant, clear fish broth), and various sweet dishes made from local coconut and jaggery. * **Eateries**: There are very few commercial restaurants. Dining is mostly confined to government-run resort cafeterias—managed by SPORTS (Society for Promotion of Nature Tourism and Sports)—as well as local homestays or small village eateries.
