Transportation

Transportation to and from Kalpeni is heavily reliant on maritime and aerial links. Passenger ships and ferries operated by the Lakshadweep Administration provide regular, though weather-dependent, connections to Kochi (on the mainland) and other islands like Kavaratti and Andrott.

Kalpeni does not have an airport; the nearest airstrip is on Agatti Island, from which Pawan Hans helicopter services transport passengers to Kalpeni. On the island itself, the road network is a simple grid of narrow, paved paths. Motorized transport is minimal, consisting mainly of two-wheelers (scooters and motorcycles) and auto-rickshaws. Bicycles and walking remain the most common and practical modes of navigating the small island.
