Kadmat's economy is highly localized, heavily reliant on government support, and focused on primary industries and services. The gross domestic product (GDP) of the island is not calculated separately from the Union Territory, but the standard of living is relatively stable due to subsidized food, healthcare, and education.
Major employers include the government sector (administration, public works, education) and the tourism board (SPORTS - Society for Promotion of Nature Tourism and Sports). Private employment is mostly found in fishing, small retail, and localized agriculture. While the daily cost of living is manageable, the cost of imported goods (building materials, electronics, non-native food) is high due to the necessity of shipping everything from the mainland. The island is actively developing its eco-tourism sector to provide sustainable future economic growth without overburdening the local environment.
