Population

According to the 2011 Census of India, Amini had a population of 7,340, with a fairly balanced gender ratio (approximately 3,700 males and 3,600 females). Given the island's small size of 2.59 sq km, it has a high population density of over 2,800 people per square kilometer.

The population is almost entirely Muslim, predominantly following the Shafi'i school of Sunni Islam. The native inhabitants speak a unique dialect of Malayalam known as Jeseri (or Dweep Bhasha), which heavily incorporates Arabic and local vocabulary. Education levels on the island are robust, reflecting the broader Union Territory's high literacy rate, which typically exceeds 90%.
