Locally, the island is managed by a Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) who handles executive and magisterial duties. Democratic local governance is facilitated through the Gram Panchayat system, where elected ward members form a Village (Dweep) Panchayat to manage local civic issues, sanitation, and community development. Amini is part of the single Lakshadweep Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituency.
