Geography

Amini is a classic coral atoll located about 407 kilometers off the southwestern coast of mainland India (specifically Kochi, Kerala). The island is distinctly oval-shaped, measuring roughly 3 kilometers in length and just over 1 kilometer at its widest point.

The geography is dominated by a fringing coral reef that creates a shallow lagoon on the western side of the island. This lagoon provides a calm harbor for local fishing boats and protects the island from the harsh waves of the Arabian Sea. The eastern side features a steeper drop-off into deeper ocean waters. The landscape is predominantly covered in dense coconut groves and coastal shrubs.
