Agriculture on Amini is a monoculture dominated by the coconut tree, which is perfectly suited to the island's sandy, porous soil. Almost all available arable land is dedicated to coconut groves.
Beneath the canopy of coconut trees, locals occasionally practice intercropping on a small scale, growing bananas, papaya, and limited seasonal vegetables for household consumption. Livestock is generally limited to poultry and a small number of goats. The "blue economy" (fisheries) functions as the equivalent of agriculture for the islanders, providing the primary source of daily protein.
