* **Electricity:** Power in Turtuk has historically been limited to a few hours a day via diesel generators and local solar micro-grids. However, recent infrastructure pushes by the government are connecting the Nubra Valley to the Northern Grid, vastly improving reliability. * **Water:** The primary source of water is glacial melt and streams feeding into the Shyok River. Traditional stone channels (kuhls) are used for both drinking water distribution and agricultural irrigation. * **Gas/Heating:** Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders brought in from Leh are used for cooking. During the harsh winters, traditional wood and dung-burning stoves (bukhari) are essential for heating. * **Waste Management:** Due to the surge in tourism, waste management is a growing concern. The village relies on community-led clean-up drives and rudimentary segregation, though much of the non-biodegradable waste must be transported back to Leh for processing.
