Medical infrastructure in the Tso Moriri region is extremely limited due to its remote location and high altitude (4,522 meters / 14,836 feet). There is a basic government medical dispensary in the village of Korzok that handles minor ailments and first aid. For serious illnesses or emergencies, patients must be transported to the Sonam Norboo Memorial (SNM) Hospital in Leh, which is roughly a 6 to 8-hour drive away. Visitors are strongly advised to carry comprehensive personal medical kits and supplemental oxygen, as acute mountain sickness (AMS) is a common risk.
