Tso Moriri and the village of Korzok fall under the administrative jurisdiction of the Leh District in the Union Territory of Ladakh. Local governance is managed through the traditional Panchayat (village council) system, which works in tandem with the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) based in Leh.
Due to its strategic location near the Chinese border, the area is heavily monitored by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the Indian Army. All visitors, including Indian nationals, are required to obtain an Inner Line Permit (ILP) or Protected Area Permit (PAP) to visit Tso Moriri. Environmental regulations are tightly enforced by the Wildlife Department of Ladakh to protect the fragile Ramsar wetland.
