Neighborhoods

While Pangong Tso is a lake and not a traditional city, the human settlements along its Indian shoreline function as its distinct "neighborhoods" or sectors: * **Lukung:** The entry point to the lake for most visitors arriving from Leh, featuring the first views of the water and several dhabas (eateries). * **Spangmik:** The largest and most commercialized village along the lake, heavily populated with tented camps, homestays, and tourist infrastructure. * **Man:** A quieter village further down the lake, offering a more peaceful, less crowded experience with traditional homestays. * **Merak:** Located further east toward the LAC, a small, highly scenic village that has only recently opened to limited tourism. * **Kakstet & Phobrang:** Remote, heavily guarded frontier hamlets situated close to the restricted military zones, characterized by traditional pastoral life.
